We have a couple more Questions & Answers for this afternoon's update. This time about fabric care.

Q: How do I wash/dry my new tucking panties?

A: The main body of the Alex tucking panties are a nylon/spandex mix, and this is the part that needs the most care when it comes to washing and drying. We recommend washing on delicate/cold with like fabrics and colors, or by hand. Dry flat or draped on a rack.

Yes, hand-washing will keep your undergarments looking new for longer (regardless of who you get them from), but lets face it most of us just don't have time for that. In our testing we also made sure that the delicate cycle was a good fit and we haven't had any issues.

Some detergents are really rough on fabrics, especially those with stretch. If you want to keep your new tucking panties in top shape for longer, a good fabric wash is a good investment.

Q: You say a good fabric wash is a good investment, do you have a favorite?

A: We do. One of the things we looked into while developing these panties was how to keep them looking and feeling good longer. Knowing the wear that regular detergents put on transmasculine binders, we wanted to tackle that from the start. While reading an article about the Queen of England's bras we found out about an American company called Forever New. They make fabric care especially designed for fine garments, and Oh My Gosh does it work amazing! When we used the regular wash on well worn sports bras they got most of their like-new stretch back.

We are so close to 75% we can almost taste it (it tastes like otter pops btw).

When we hit that mark we have a HUGE announcement to make, so be sure to share and help us bring these amazing tucking panties to the world.

61%!!!

I was going to do a 48 hour post with lots of cheering because we hit 50% of our funding goal before the 48 hour mark, but we had a Skype call with our designer/production manager to finalize the color swatches for the fabrics, and the next thing I knew we were 61%.

How? Because you are all amazing.

We at Valid really appreciate all of this support and are so glad to see that people believe in this project as much as we do.

We're working on another Q&A update that will get posted either later this evening or tomorrow morning.

P.S. The colors are beautiful!

As of this writing we just hit 40% funded & if it wasn't the temperature of the sun in Portland we would do a happy dance.

More questions & answers in this update

The 1st question is in response to the last question in our 1st update.

Q: Ok, but by making tucking panties aren't you playing into society's requirement for transfeminine people to pass?

A: No. Full Stop. These tucking panties are made for people who have a phallus they want to conceal or minimize. For many transfeminine and nonbinary people this is because of dysphoria. This is for them, so they can look how they want & be comfortable. The side effect of these panties is that for people who need to pass (because let's face it, our society is pretty terrible to transfeminine folks) they have another tool to do so, that isn't going to cause them more pain. Yes, dismantling a system that boasts increased levels of unemployment, homelessness, incarceration, & violence towards trans women (especially women of color) is a good & noble cause. But not helping these same people live their authentic lives by refusing to provide the products they need is helping that system, not harming it. I can't dismantle an oppressive system while I allow my trans sisters to starve.

Q: Will these come in Plus Sizes? If so will there be a Fat Tax?
A: Below this answer is our initial size chart. We're starting with 7 sizes (XS-3XL), whether we do larger or smaller sizes beyond those will be determined by the success of this campaign. We have already paid to have the patterns made in these initial sizes. It will be an extra cost to have additional patterns made. After we reach our initial funding, if we find that people need a 4X or larger we have a stretch goal to fund that extra sizing.

As far as a fat tax goes. No, on our end these tucking panties will cost you the same whether you are a size 3XL or a Small.

Q: Speaking of sizes, how what sizes is the t-shirt available in?

A: We have adult sizes Small-6XL. We haven't posted the size chart or colors yet because we want to make sure we only offer the colors that look best before we do.
We are also checking into kids sizes for the shirts, which it looks like will be available in XS-XL, but we want to make sure that the colors are the same between kids/adult so we don't have to manage 2 sets of data.

Until next time...

Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts.

Keep sharing and we'll keep growing.
